Kiosk mode turns any tablet or computer into a secure sign-in/out station at your door — no extra hardware required.
1. Two ways to use it
Go to Settings → Kiosk — you get two options for the same secure PIN check-in:
- Parent self-serve (QR): print the QR poster and place it at your entrance. Parents scan it with their own phone, enter their PIN, and check in/out — no shared device to touch.
- Shared tablet kiosk: launch kiosk mode on a tablet you keep at the door for everyone to use.
Both use the same PIN and land in the same attendance record; use either or both.
2. How families check in
- The parent or authorized pickup enters their PIN.
- They tap their child (or children, if they have more than one).
- Each child is checked in (or out), time-stamped and attributed to the person who did it. They can sign on screen — the signature is saved with the record for licensing. If you turn on Require Signature at Kiosk Check-in (Settings → Check-in & Pickup), they must sign before the check-in or pickup goes through.
That attribution gives you a clean audit trail for licensing — every entry shows who and when.
3. What you'll see
- Real-time presence by classroom on your dashboard.
- Live staff-to-child ratios that update as children arrive and leave.
- Exportable attendance for licensing in a couple of clicks (see the reports center).
Tips
- Allergies show as a red badge at check-in, so staff catch them at the door.
- Forgot a PIN? An admin can reset it from the guardian's profile in the Families area.
- No tablet? The kiosk works on any computer with a browser, too — or use the parent self-serve QR.
- Retiring a printed QR poster? Regenerate it in Settings → Kiosk — the old poster stops working, then print the new one.
- Prefer to take attendance yourself? Staff can check children in & out without a PIN — see Staff check-in & out.
